A muffin is an individual-sized, baked product. It can refer to two distinct items, a part-raised and a cupcake-like.
Quickbread muffins (known in Britain as “American muffins” or simply as “muffins”) originated in the United States in the mid-19th century. They are similar to cupcakes in size and cooking methods, the main difference being that cupcakes tend to be sweet dessertsusing cake batter and which are often topped with sugar frosting.
- 1 egg
- 2 cups of all-purpose/plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Butter (for greasing)
Preheat oven to 400. Beat egg. Add oil, vanilla and milk, mix.
Mix dry ingredients together, add to the wet mix.Grease muffin tin, fill cups 3/4 full.Bake 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
